It is perhaps a sign of the times that it is necessary to include on this site a few words about
the do's and don'ts of mine (& cave) exploration, and about the use of this website. The following
is intended to be a helpful guide...
Exploring Mines and mining sites (including surface features and natural caves) is a potentially
dangerous activity. Do so carefully, and with respect for your surroundings. If in any doubt,
enlist the help of experienced mine explorers/cavers. If you're not already a member of an offical
club or society - join one.
Neither the authors of this website, individual contributors nor PDMHS can or does accept any
responsibility for your activites or safety either above or below ground, nor can we warrant that
any of the material presented on this site is accurate and up-to-date. You ae responsible for
you own actions!
Please show respect - for the mines themselves, the archaeology, minerals, formations and artifacts,
for landowners and nearby residents, for livestock, land and the general public.
Access to sites is often won by careful negotiation with landowners or mineral rights owners -
check the current access arrangements as part of planning your trip, and if required, ask permission.
Be conservation minded.
